example of final project civil engineering - AL RAHBA MOSQUE
Final year project report in civil engineering. Project of MOSQUE.
A mosque is a place of worship for followers of the Islamic faith. Muslims oftenrefer to the mosque by its Arabic name, masjid.
The Arabic word masjid means temple or place of worship and comes from the
Arabic root sajada (root "s-j-d," meaning to bow or kneel) which means he
worshipped in reference to the prostrations performed during Islamic prayers.
A mosque is symbolically very important to Muslims, and is a humble way for
man to recreate pure divine presence on earth. But mosques are not built
according to divine patterns (as is alleged by many other religions) -- they are
simply divinely guided. There are no very clear rules to what a mosque should
look like, indicated in the central religious scriptures.
Mandatory elements to the mosque are that it clearly must indicate the direction to
Mecca (this direction is called qibla). The indication is in most mosques a
mihrab, a niche in the wall. The area in front of the mihrab must be roofed. In the
wall of the mihrab there can be no doors.
Mosques are centre of cities, or of neighborhoods in cities. This function does not
always have to be structured, but can be connected to mentality, and the
establishment of a new mosque often makes a centre emerge. This mechanism was
strong in older days, but is becoming more and more unusual.

Guideline for preparing a traffic management plan - TMP
GUIDELINE
FOR PREPARING A TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PLAN (TMP)
Preparation
of a detail Traffic Management Plan and proper implementation of measures
identified in the approved plan is essential to ensure the safety of all road
users as well as the workers at site. It would also assure the smooth operation
of the road network as well as the work site.
TMP FORMAT
1.
Description of the proposed works and lane/road closures.
2.
Identification and assessment of traffic impacts of proposed works.
3. Detail
traffic management measures to ameliorate the impacts of proposed works.
4.
Assessment of public transport services affected.
5. Details
of provisions made for emergency vehicles, heavy vehicles, cyclists and
pedestrians.
6.
Assessment of effect of proposed traffic management measures on traffic
movements in adjoining streets.
7.
Proposed public/ tenant notification process if required.
TMP EXPLANATORY NOTES
1. Description of the proposed works and
lane/road closures:
Details
should be provided of the proposed works on road and the closure type (number
of lanes and the length of road affected from the works and the number of lanes
available for through traffic).
2. Identification and assessment of traffic
impacts of proposed works:
The
assessment would include approximate traffic flow data (eg light
vehicles/heavy vehicles /pedestrians etc) for the affected road area.
Assessment should also include possible impacts on adjoining properties (access,
on-street parking etc.).
3. Detail traffic management measures to
ameliorate the impacts of proposed works:
Details
should be provided of the proposed measures (traffic controllers, part
closures, detours etc.) to minimise the impact of proposed road/lane
closures on other road users.
4. Assessment of public transport services
affected
Details
should be provided of public transport services affected and the provisions
(measures/notifications)
made
to minimise the impact on public transport services.
5. Details of provisions made for emergency
vehicles, heavy vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians:
Details
should be provided of provisions (measures/notifications) made for
affected emergency vehicles, heavy vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
6. Assessment of effect on proposed traffic
management measures on traffic movements in adjoining streets:
The
assessment would include forecasted traffic flow data for roads and
intersections of adjoining roads. Specific attention should be made to the
streets where traffic is proposed to be detoured.
7. Proposed public/ tenant notification
process:
Proposed
consultation process with the public/ other tenants directly affected by the
proposed works and road closures.
NOTES
1. The TMP
should include following details:
1.1
Location of road occupancy/proposed works
- Street name and
number
- precinct on
airport
- Map of where on
airport
1.2 Road
Occupancy Details
- Name and address
of the applicant
- Contact name
- Contact
telephone numbers
- Contact fax
number
- On site contact
name
- On site contact
telephone numbers
- Schedule date and
time of commencement of works
- Intended date
and time of completion of works
2. If
approval is granted for the proposed works the applicant must prepare a Traffic
Control Plan (TCP) that complies with OH & S requirements to protect
the safety of
workers as
well as the road users.
3. With
some smaller work sites/occupancies, the Traffic Control Plan can be submitted
as the Traffic Management Plan.
4. If the
works/road occupancy cannot go ahead because of adverse weather conditions or
other unforseen circumstances, the applicant may reapply for another date using
the same Traffic Management Plan. Providing that there are no changes to the
original application, BAC needs to check wether the new date conflicts with any
other road developments or road occupancies/road closers in the area.

Structural Steel Moment Connection pdf
Moment connections are designed to transfer bending moments, shear forces and sometimes normal forces. The design strength and stiffness of a moment connection are defined in relation to the strength and stiffness of the connected members. The design strength of a moment connection may be full- strength (i.e. the moment capacity of the connection is equal to or large than the capacity of the connected member) or partial-strength (i.e. the moment capacity of the connection is less than that of the connected member). Similarly the stiffness of a moment connection can be rigid or semi-rigid compared to the stiffness of the connected member.
The rotation capacity of the structure may be provided by either the connection or the connected member.

PILE GROUP ANALYSIS PROGRAME - excel
"PILEGRP" is a spreadsheet program written in MS-Excel for the purpose of analysis of pile groups with rigid caps using the "elastic method". Specifically, the properties of the pile group are calculated, and then based upon the applied vertical and horizontal loadings, the vertical and horizontal pile reactions are calculated. There is also a worksheet to check beam and punching shear in the pile cap for a single corner pile, for the purpose of estimating the required pile cap thickness and subsequent pile cap weight.
design of steel structure pdf
This lecture note constitutes the limitstate method of design for members
subjected to combined stress resultants asper stipulations of the draft IS: 800 –
LSM version where the draft code has dealt mainly with i) combined shear and
bending ii) combined axial tension and bending and iii)combined axial
compression and bending. These are explained in detail. The effect of reduction
in bending moment capacity has been explained. The effect of lateral torsional
buckling has also been explained. The concept of overall strength determination
has been explained. The effect of relevantfactors including equivalent uniform
moment factor has been discussed.

compression members pdf
Compression members are structural elements primarily subjected to axial compressive forces and hence, their design is guided by considerations of strength and buckling. While pedestal, column and wall carry the loads along its length l in vertical direction, the strut in truss carries loads in any direction. The letters l, b and D represent the unsupported vertical length, horizontal lest lateral dimension, width and the horizontal longer lateral dimension, depth. These compression members may be made of bricks or reinforced concrete. Herein, reinforced concrete compression members are only discussed.

Reinforcement Checks
Reinforcement Cover:
It is essential that the steel reinforcement bars are surrounded sufficient impermeableconcrete to protect them from corrosion, and to allow the combined strength of the reinforcement and concrete to be effective.
Pre-Concrete Checks for Reinforcement:
The pre-concrete check for reinforcement essentially comes in two parts. The first part is a visual inspection by the clerk of works or equivalent.

COAGULATION - Definition and Measurement of Colloids
Many of the contaminants in water and wastewater contain matter in the colloidal form. These colloids result in a stable “suspension”. In general the suspension is stable enough so that gravity forces will not cause precipitation of these colloidal particles. So they need special treatment to remove them from the aqueous phase. This destabilization of colloids is called “coagulation”.
